Ski art painting by Mark Gear featured in Ski & Art book

I’m excited to share some news from the studio: my work has been selected to be featured in the upcoming book Ski & Art by Katie Bamber. The book explores the intersection of skiing and visual art, bringing together a group of contemporary artists from around the world whose work is inspired by mountains, winter landscapes, and ski culture. Being included among the selected artists is a real honour, and I’m thrilled that my work will be part of this collection.

About the Book

Ski & Art is a visual tribute to the world of skiing, where adrenaline, landscape and creativity come together. In this richly illustrated book, author Katie Bamber explores how ski culture inspires artists – from iconic alpine posters to illustrations that make the powder fly off the page. Ski & Art, the successor to Surf & Art and Skate & Art, tells the story of a lifestyle shaped by mountain communities, subcultures and a shared love of freedom and expression. Bamber selected the 22 artists who define the skiing art scene, interviewed them and showcases their finest work. This book is a must-have for anyone fascinated by the cross-over between sports and art, and by the unique magic of the mountains.

The book is currently available for preorder, with publication expected later this year. Preorder is available here: https://www.accartbooks.com/uk/book/ski-art/

My Work in the Book

For many years, skiing and the mountains have been a major source of inspiration for my art. The changing light on snow, the movement of skiers across a landscape, and the sense of freedom found in the mountains all influence the way I approach colour, form, and composition.

To have my work recognised and included in Ski & Art is incredibly rewarding. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished book and the range of work from the other artists involved.

Thank You

I’d like to thank Katie Bamber and the team behind Ski & Art for including my work in the project. It’s always inspiring to see how different artists interpret the shared experience of skiing and mountain life.

I’ll share more details here as the publication date approaches.
